Not Your Mother's Girl Powder Volumizing Hair Powder review

My hair doesn't have much volume. In high school I used to (attempt to) tease my hair. It was always time consuming, included mass amounts of hairspray and it just didn't look great. I really wish that I knew about products like Girl Powder back then!

Girl Powder is a volumizing hair powder. It is essentially a tease in a bottle. No teasing comb needed and your hair won't look like a rat's nest. Simply unscrew the top, sprinkle a little powder at the roots of your hair where you want volume then lift and fluff up. Now you're done and have instant volume.

The packaging is cute, which is what I expect from Not Your Mother's. It comes in a shake bottle with holes at the top for product to come out of. It is extremely light weight. It feels as if it's empty. The cap secures well, so this is a good product to travel with. It can easily fit into a purse. The product its self is a very lightweight, fine powder.

This is such a great product. Not only does it work but it's super cheap.  I have loved every single Not Your Mother's product that I've tried and this is no exception. Your tease will last a long time, though you may need to fluff it a little more as the day goes on.

Not Your Mother's® Beach Babe™ Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

 I know I have reviewed this before, this is an updated review. I have a few things about this product that I couldn't mention in my original review and I also would like to compare the full size to the trial size I received in my VoxBox.

If you don't know about Not Your Mother's hair products then you are missing out! They have a wide range of great products at very low prices.

My favorite product of theirs is the Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. I had owned the full sized product before (more about this later), so I was very excited when I opened my VoxBox to see a travel size of Beach Babe.

On the bottle, Not Your Mother's claims:

Now everyday can be a day at the beach...minus the sunburn. Beach Babe has everyone fooled into thinking you just left the beach (you little liar!). It adds sexy, tousled waves and a lite matte finish to any hair type. Infused with natural Dead Sea salt & sea kelp this salon formula has you and your hair on the boardwalk all year long.

Beach Babe is easy to use, just spray it liberally all over your hair and scrunch it up. That's it! When I go out I like to spray Beach Babe and then scrunch my hair as tightly as I can into a claw clip (a nice big octopus claw clip works best), then do my makeup as the spray dries. It's perfect for when you want to add some style and volume but you don't have the time. You can also use this on wet or dry hair, personally I have found it works better with dry hair.

It also smells amazing! It has a coconut-ty tropical scent that makes you want to see it just for the scent.

This product does indeed work, but my hair does not hold a curl or a wave well so it sadly doesn't last long in my hair. This is just me, however and if your hair can hold a wave or curl well this should work much better on you.

I mentioned before that I used to own the full sized bottle of this spray. One day while my mom was getting something from the cabinet where I store my hair styling products it fell and the bottle broke! Right at the very bottom of the bottle and product went everywhere. If you buy this spray keep in mind that it is in a plastic bottle and if it falls, it will break.

The design of the full sized bottle is a little more complex (but not difficult to use). There is a tab you have to move to open and close it. The tab could be moved easily in a bag, so I am very thankful for the travel size. The travel size has a normal pump and a cap. The cap doesn't fall off easily so there won't be product all over your bag. Although I do love the pump on the full sized bottle more, the  pump on the travel sized bottle is more practical.

 
I overall love this product and I will of course re-buy the full sized bottle and when I use up the travel size I will replace that as well. There is also a cream version of Beach Babe available now and I would love to try that to see how it compares.

As you may know from previous posts, I do a lot with Influenster.com. I have gotten a VoxBox from them before and had so much fun participating in the program and reviewing all of the products. I was even more excited when I was selected to receive this VoxBox, the SweetHeart VoxBox. I was very surprised when I opened my box to see all of this:

In the box was a travel size of Not Your Mother's Beach Babe spray, Olay Fresh Effects Va Va Vivid cleansing system, Skinnygirl Daily Skinnygirl On-the-Go Bar, and Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response deodorant.

The outside of the box also had a pink heart glued to it, which I thought was really cute.

I will be posting individual review posts for everything I received (yes, even the Skinnygirl bar, even though this is a beauty blog). These review posts might not be up for a week or two, next week I will be getting all of my wisdom teeth out at once and I will need some time to recover from that. Review: Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

 Happy New Year!! I hope everyone has a very happy and safe new year!

This is a product I have had for a few months now and I've been waiting for the right time to review it. Finally, I have a chance to.

Not your mother's is a great brand with a very wide range of products. All of their products are very cheap and affordable but great quality.  You can buy their products at a drugstore for about $5. Ulta also carries them. I love the names of their products, they are all very clever. I found them while browsing the internet for hair products one day.

I had been looking at Beach Babe for a while until I was finally able to buy it at my local Wal Mart. I had been looking for something to transform my normally straight hair into nice waves. Now what is Beach Babe? It is a texturizing spray meant to give you beach waves. The description from Not Your Mother's on the bottle claims:

Beach Babe comes in this little plastic bottle with a trigger handle. I really like this, it's very easy to control how much product you want to use. There is also a really good amount of product in this bottle.  I love the packaging of the bottle, it's feminine and very cute.

There is a little tab that you can tap to open or close this. I would still be careful when traveling with it though, in case that tab moves. You don't want hair product to leak all over inside of your bag!

This is a very easy product to use. Just spray it liberally all over your hair, where ever you want beach waves. After spraying it on, I just bunch up all of my hair and clip it into place with a claw clip then let it air dry. That isn't the only way to do it, that's just what I  like to do. You can also just scrunch your hair with your fingers. Instead of letting it air dry you can also blow dry it.

Yes, this product does work! After my hair has dried, I release it from the clip and I always have beautiful, tousled beach waves. It is such a great product if you want to style your hair and you don't have the time to use a curling iron or a straightener. The application directions on the bottle claim you can use this on wet or dry hair. I have used it on both, I find that it works better on dry hair. The only problem I have with this product is for my hair, the waves don't last. My hair doesn't hold a curl well unless I use a good amount of mousse and hairspray. I'm sure it holds perfectly well with anyone else's hair, mine just likes to be difficult.

I also have to mention the smell! It has such a great tropical smell. There have been times where I've used this product just because I wanted to smell it!

If you've been thinking of trying this or any other Not Your Mother's products, just do it. Their products are great, and if you don't like it you are only losing about $5.
